Blinded by Science: Central Park Collection
Some say ignorance is bliss. As a former botanical professional, a walk through a garden for me can be a challenge to just enjoy the colors, shapes, and textures when my brain is clouded with lots of scientific plant details. With this series, I am using the power of abstraction to filter out the science details in my head which lets me focus on the pure beauty of nature and create unique portraits of the trees, plants, and landscapes. This collection is from my ongoing efforts to create an abstract portrait of each genera of tree found in New York City’s magnificent Central Park. The images shown here are scans from a set of prints on parchment-style paper with hand deckled edges.
